PriceToolKit documentation
In development — docs follow the current build
How PriceToolKit tracks competitor prices, suggests new ones and pushes changes to your store — and how to turn automatic pricing on safely.
Getting started
When you install PriceToolKit it imports your catalogue and keeps it in sync as products change, with a full re-sync every night.
- Add the competitor product pages you want to track.
- Let a full day of price checks run.
- Review the suggested prices and the explanation behind each one.
- Choose how changes reach your store: suggest only, approve, or auto.
Tracking competitors
Add competitor product URLs one at a time or import them by CSV. PriceToolKit reads the price, currency and stock status from each page — from the store's own product data where the competitor runs Shopify, and from the page's structured data otherwise. It learns where each site shows its price, so repeat checks are fast and reliable.
- Broken: the page stopped resolving, or stopped showing a price, three checks in a row. PriceToolKit then searches that retailer for the product again — by barcode where your variant has one. A confident match replaces the URL automatically; an unsure one is proposed in Activity for you to confirm.
- Blocked: the retailer is refusing automated requests. Blocked URLs are retried daily rather than abandoned, and routed a different way where one is configured. If a URL stays blocked for more than a few days, email support with the URL.
Pricing rules
A rule decides where your price should sit against your competitors. When several rules match a product, the most specific one wins.
- Scope: one variant, a product, a collection, a brand (vendor), a category (product type), or the whole catalogue.
- Position: below, equal to or above the cheapest, average or highest competitor, with an optional offset as a percentage or a fixed amount.
- Competitors: all of them or only the ones you pick. By default only in-stock prices checked in the last 48 hours count.
- Limits: a floor and a ceiling based on your unit cost, cost plus an extra margin, or the compare-at price.
- Fallback: when the target falls outside your limits, clamp to the floor, clamp to the ceiling, or make no suggestion.
- Rounding: end prices in .99, .95 or .00, or round to the nearest step such as 0.05.
- Change limits: cap how far a single change can move a price.
Every suggestion comes with an explanation: every rule that was considered, which one won, and each step it took — including any floor that clamped the result. If the explanation is right but the outcome isn't what you want, edit the rule; the rule builder previews the effect before you save.
Repricing modes
- Suggest only (the default): PriceToolKit recommends prices and changes nothing in your store.
- Approve: only the changes you approve are pushed to your store.
- Auto: changes are pushed within the caps you set — a maximum change per push (as a percentage) and a maximum number of changes per day.
Pushes pause for a few minutes after a competitor check, so prices are never set from half-refreshed data. Settings also control what happens to the compare-at price, and whether variants of one product are priced independently or all take the lowest or highest suggestion.
Activity and reverting changes
Every price change PriceToolKit pushes is listed in Activity with a revert button. Changes can be reverted one at a time or in bulk.
Daily digest
A daily email with competitor price moves, broken or blocked links, the changes pushed or rejected, and anything waiting for your approval. It goes to your store's contact email by default. In Settings you can change the address, choose the hour it's sent, turn it off, or send a test digest.
Before you turn on auto mode
The order we recommend for turning on automatic pricing:
- Add competitors and let a full day of checks run.
- Read a few suggestions and their explanations.
- Switch to approve mode and push one change by hand.
- Revert it, to see that the undo works.
- Turn on auto mode with a small cap — 5% and 10–20 changes a day.
- Watch the daily digest for a week before raising the caps.
Uninstalling
Remove the app from Shopify's Apps page. Prices already pushed stay as they are — uninstalling does not roll them back, so revert anything you want undone first, from Activity. Shopify tells us 48 hours later and we erase everything we hold for your store.
Support
Email support@zolodigital.com and we'll reply within one business day. The Help page inside the app fills in your store and plan for you.
