What is custom Shopify app development?
Building software that plugs into a Shopify store through Shopify's APIs: private apps that automate one store's back office or connect it to another system, and public apps listed on the Shopify App Store for any merchant to install.
What's the difference between a custom app and a public app?
A custom app is built for one store, installed directly and never goes through Shopify's review. A public app is listed on the Shopify App Store, passes Shopify's review, handles billing through Shopify, and has to work for thousands of stores you've never seen.
Have you published apps on the Shopify App Store?
Yes. Collection Toolkit is live on the App Store, and PriceToolKit is in development. Both are built on the same stack I use for custom apps: Remix, Polaris, Prisma and PostgreSQL.
How much does a custom Shopify app cost?
A fixed price after a written scope. It depends on how many systems the app connects to, whether it needs an admin screen, and what background jobs it runs. Hosting, monitoring and updates after launch are part of the scope, not a surprise later.
